Fall Break Fun-- Why did it ever have to end?

Fall. It is my absolute favorite season and I always make so many great memories. I took a little break and ventured up to NYC (as you all saw in the last post) for a few days, and SO glad that I was able to get away for a few days to relax, explore, and spend time with my sister, Meggie. After all my Thursday and Friday adventures (check out my last blog post here!) , it was time to relax with Meggie and have some quality sister time! Since she has started residency, I barely have time to even talk to her on the phone, so it was so great to just lay around a little, watch some Cupcake Wars and Homeland, order Seamless, and spend time together!

Me and my sister, Meggie
On Saturday, we were both SO tired. We were both excited to just have a day where we didn't have to do much of anything. After Meggie ran in the morning, we both decided that it was the perfect day to relax and be lazy in her apartment, which I am convinced is the most peaceful place on earth. While Meggie was resting (MUCH deserved rest for her!) , I decided to take a walk along the East River to get in some exercise. The walking trial along the East River is so magnificent. It is very peaceful to walk along the East River and then you have the Manhattan skyline as your backdrop.

I had never been inside Bellevue Hospital before (Meggie's second home), and so I walked inside because the lobby looks like this! It is so cool. This is the original face of Bellevue Hospital and they have maintained it inside of the hospital lobby now. I just thought that this was the coolest hospital entrance!
Being that it was a dreary, overcast, and chilly day, it was time to go back to Meggie's apartment, change into pj's and watch some TV. We are both addicted to Seamless, especially ordering from the restaurant Dig Inn, and so we lit some candles, crashed on the couch, ordered Seamless and watched the end of a Halloweentown movie (yes, I still watch Disney channel Halloween movies!), Cupcake Wars, and Homeland (two of my new favorite shows). We both decided that it was the perfect day and much needed for the both of us!

We woke up to a GORGEOUS Sunday morning, and Meggie went running with her friend, Krista, while I decided to catch just a few more zzzz's. After their run, I walked over to meet Meggie and Krista for some Juice Press smoothies. Juicing is all the rage in NYC, and Juice Press is SO delicious! Seriously, if you are ever in the city, go check it out. The smoothies are out of this world! I snapped a few photos of the Flatiron district during my walk over to Juice Press, and could not believe what an amazing Sunday morning it was!

The Strawberry Shake Smoothie is where it is at!

So many juices!
We both walked/ cabbed it back (Meggie was freezing) to her apartment and got ready to go to The G's 3rd Birthday Party. Gia (check out her blog here!) is Meggie's close friend and running buddy (they will both ROCK the NYC Marathon November 3!)  in NYC and she has two beautiful twins. They are seriously the cutest kids ever (and SUCH a beautiful family)! Meggie and I both talked about how we hope to have a family just like them one day.  There birthday party was everything. Meggie and I loved watching all of the kids run around having a blast, watching the balloon artist create the most amazing creations, face painting, birthday cake, and all around fun.

So so sweet!

Meggie and I getting creative with our gifts for the G's!
After all of the birthday fun, we decided to enjoy the beautiful weather and take a quick walk through the Upper East Side and Central Park. I love looking at all of the brownstones and so many of them were decorated for Halloween (which I LOVE!).

If I could visit and walk through Central Park everyday.. I would!

Megs vogueing with her Juice Press.
Sunday night called for more Cupcake Wars, Seamless, and Homeland. I had to go to bed early (around 9:30 PM) because I had a 3:15 AM wakeup call in order to catch my flight at 6 AM! 3:15 came WAY too early! I am definitely not a fan of flying, but if I do have to fly, sunrise and sunset are my favorite times to fly. After my heart palpitations that occur after take-off and the pilot signals that we have reached 10,000 ft., I am perfectly fine.. I know, very weird.. take-off just scares me! I actually find it very tranquil and calm watching the sunrise above the clouds. Both flights this morning were exceptionally smooth and the sunrise coming into DC was breathtaking!

I need something to distract me from the dreaded take-off, so this seemed like the perfect choice! Many yummy recipes inside!

Now, it is back to reality, but I am so thankful that I got to get a way for a short vacation! Until next time, NYC!

Gorgeous Fall Day In New York.

For my fall break, I have been enjoying the beautiful fall weather and time with my sister, Meggie,  in New York. It is so nice to get away for a few days, relax, spend time with my sister, and explore the city. Yesterday, while Meggie worked all day, I decided to walk along 5th and 6th avenues, and shop, explore, and then make my way to Central Park to enjoy the fall weather. Yesterday was the most beautiful day!

First stop, the New York City Public Library. As many times as I have been to the city, I have never been inside! It is so so beautiful and have definitely been missing out!

After some quick shopping, I made it to Central Park and enjoyed some quiet time while admiring the beauty of fall!

While I was in Central Park, I ended up running into 4 wedding parties and 1 actual wedding ceremony.

I ended the night meeting up with one of my favorite friends, Timothy. We met for dinner at Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. It was such a beautiful night to sit outside and engorge in the yumminess of Shake Shack!

Tonight, Meggie and I are having a very relaxing sisters night in! Until next time!
